SureFire Flashlights
Proven performance
You’ve probably seen them on TV or at the movies-those high-tech, compact, very bright SureFire flashlights used by Crime Scene Investigators, SWAT teams, FBI agents and elite military units. That’s because the producers of these programs know that SureFire lights are used by more SWAT teams and Special Ops units than any other brand-and with good reason. A SureFire flashlight is likely to be one of the most reliable, thoughtfully engineered and well-built products you’ll ever pick up.
Immense Progress
It wasn’t that long ago when having a reasonably bright light meant lugging around an unwieldy 6-volt lantern that only worked when you were checking it in the garage. You’ve probably seen one. It had a swivel head, an erratic switch, and a chrome-plated base that attached to a large, heavy battery. It probably weighed three pounds and would slowly rust from the day it was brought home.
It’s remarkable to think that now a SureFire L2, for instance, can deliver many times the light of that old lantern and remain small enough to fit comfortably in a pocket. In addition, the L2’s LED lamp will probably never need to be replaced. And the list goes on, the two 123A lithium batteries that power it can sit on a shelf for 10 years before they begin to lose significant power and together the two batteries weigh just over one ounce.
Intelligent design
SureFires are built to take the abuse that professionals in the military, law-enforcement, fire departments and other heavy users dish out on a daily basis. All but the G2 series are made from aerospace-grade, anodized, machined aluminum housings that are extremely resistant to bending, crushing or damage from impact. The G2 series uses Nitrolon for their housing, a proprietary, high-strength, glass-filled polymer that is non-conductive, quite strong and resistant to impact damage.
A great technical advancement for flashlights is the development of the LED lamp. Short for “Light Emitting Diode”, these solid-state devices last for thousands of hours and are not nearly as susceptible to shock as incandescent lamps. Unlike lesser brands, SureFire uses only top-shelf LEDs, managed by a sealed, electronic power regulator that provides the most efficient combination of usable light output and battery life.
Some Surefire lights use Xenon Gas lamps. These are heavy-duty, high-output lamps designed for extreme use. Custom designed filaments balance runtime, light output and vibration resistance for best performance.
The window that covers the reflector is made from tempered, anti-reflective Pyrex glass, much stronger than the usual plastic. The reflector is machined, not stamped, aluminum made to precise tolerances. A micro-texture on the reflector surface contributes to the unusually smooth beam that SureFire is known for.
Oft forgotten, but critically important, are the batteries. SureFire’s choice of Lithium 123A batteries confirms their attention to quality for every component. 123A batteries have a 10-year shelf life, work and store over a wide temperature range, provide more power per ounce than alkalines and can maintain a constant voltage for 95% of their life, even at high discharge rates. 123A lithium batteries are available at low cost on our web site.
In Conclusion
How many times have you had the frustrating experience of grabbing a flashlight only to find that will not work. You bang it on your hand; you take it apart and put it back together; change the batteries and say things your mother would not approve of. And, still nothing. SureFires always work. That’s why they’re the choice of the professionals that must rely on their flashlight every day.
SureFire Lights have a no hassle, lifetime guarantee that covers everything except batteries and lamps. If you want to give the perfect gift to a person who has everything, equip yourself for an adventure or just have a reliable light to reach for when something goes bump in the night, nothing works better than a SureFire.
