Snaplight high intensity lightsticks are manufactured by Cyalume Light Technology, the same company that makes our military grade 12-hour lightsticks. High intensity lightsticks are brighter than the more common 12-hour chemlights but have a nominal 30-minute duration.
Hi intensity lightsticks are most useful for signaling, auto, boating and other vehicle distress situations, or cold weather use. Because temperature has an affect on the chemical reaction in lightsticks, high intensity lightsticks are usually a better choice than the 12-hour type in cold environments. Cold weather reduces the intensity and prolongs the duration of both types as compared to warmer conditions. Having a few of each is a good idea if you are in changing environments or for year-round storage in the car or boat.

When using a lightstick to signal, attach a length of cord to the lanyard hole, activate the stick and swing in a circle. This creates a larger, more visible signal.
Snaplight lightsticks are non-toxic, non-flammable, waterproof, safe for tents, safe to use around combustible materials and, of course, do not require batteries.
Hi intensity lightsticks are constructed in the same manner as the 12-hour variety. A sealed plastic tube containing special fluorescers is separated from another liquid (an activator) by a glass capsule. The lightstick is activated by bending the tube, which breaks the inner capsule and combines the two chemicals.
