Probably the most effective and complete portable purifier available, the First Need XL physically removes viruses, bacteria, Giardia, Crypto and other microbes, pesticides, cysts, odors, sediment, foul tastes and herbicides from water. An updated version of the award winning First Need Deluxe, the XL has a canister capacity of 150 gallons a flow rate of 2 quarts per minute, direct connection to popular wide and narrow mouth containers and a field serviceable dual-action pump. The new XL cannister is compatible with the previous First Need Deluxe filter pump.

Independently certified to meet the EPA standard for microbiological purifiers against bacteria, cysts and viruses, the XL does not use chemicals and provides clean, drinkable water in just one pass. The proven “Structured Matrix” filter technology has a nominal retention rating of .1 microns and an absolute retention of .4 microns. This proprietary technology employs ultrafine microstraining, molecular capture and electrostatic removal to purify water.
Features include an ergonomic pump handle, prefilter with a 36” non-kink intake hose and adjustable float, direct connection to Nalgene wide and narrow mouth compatible bottles, a sanitary cover for the bottle connection, field serviceable pump and a tote bag that can be used to convert the unit to gravity assist mode. A nice back-up system, the gravity assist mode will continue to work even if the canister becomes clogged.
To test the integrity of the purifier, add two drops of blue food coloring in to a container of water. Pump the water through the canister. If there is any trace of blue in the treated water, it’s time to replace the canister.
