Knowing what items to include in a survival kit and finding them can be a bit vexing. With this package, we’ve done the work for you and discounted the price as well. In the LifeView Outdoors 72 hour kit, you’ll have the tools and resources to improvise shelter, build fires, purify and store water, signal for help, and treat minor injuries. Lightweight and functional, this common-sense kit has the essential components that will help you stay alive if you become lost or stranded in the wilderness. Each item has been carefully appraised for usefulness, reliability, practicality, size and weight. The entire kit weighs only 16 oz. and will easily fit into a daypack or waist pack.

We've developed this kit to address the four most usual priorities for wilderness survival, shelter, fire, water and signaling. All of the items fit inside of the red 5"x 7" stuff sack for easy packing and identification. The AMK Pocket Survival Pak can be placed in a pocket for extra security, and is a convenient way to have important items on your person at all times.

Shelter
The Adventure Medical Kits emergency bivvy will provide a dry, windproof shelter that reflects up to 90% of your body's heat. Quick and easy to deploy, the AMK bivvy can be a real lifesaver, especially during cold, wet nights. Also included is 550 cord, braided nylon cord and stainless steel wire to help you improvise a natural shelter for additional protection.

Fire Starting
A safe fire is important for many reasons. A fire can provide warmth, signal your location, improve morale, cook your food, and more. With 25 ProForce survival matches, 4 TinderQuik tabs and the Spark-Lite fire starter you should be able to start multiple fires under tough conditions. The Spark-Lite fire starter can be used with one hand and produces a stream of sparks that will light the Tinder-Quik tinder. Also included are 25 ProForce wind and water proof matches in a sealed vial. These matches burn for approximately 12 seconds, allowing ample time to ignite your tinder.

Hydration
Hydration is critical to maintaining mental sharpness, thermal regulation and energy. Aquamira Water Purifier tabs will destroy biological pathogens found in wilderness water sources when used according to the instructions, includng Giardia and Cryptosporidium. Each tablet treats one quart of water for a total of 12 quarts (a gallon per day for three days). The one-quart Platypus bottle is a robust container for treating and storing water, yet occupies a very small space when collapsed.

Signaling
Signaling can be vital to a speedy rescue, and a whistle and signal mirror are mainstays for any survival kit for good reason. Both are compact, effective signaling devices that can attract attention over surprisingly long distances. In addition, the AMK bivvy, the blaze orange bandanna and the Photon X-light can all be used as ground signals.

Navigation
Statistically, you're better off staying in one location. However for those times when you need to move, a 20 mm compass is included to help you find your bearings. The compass has a groove that can accept an improvised lanyard ring made from the wire or thread included with the kit.

First Aid and Personal Protection
A small first aid kit is included to take care of the minor cuts, scrapes, headaches and other nuisances that sometimes come from an extended time in the wilderness. Included are two safety pins, tweezers for removing ticks and splinters, moleskin for blisters, and an assortment of medicines and bandages, all packaged in a reclosable, waterproof bag. Insect repellent is important for both morale and general health. Mosquitos, ticks, flies and chiggers can make you miserable in a hurry and carry an assortment of dreadful diseases that can jeopardize your well being. Ben's 30 Deet last up to 8 hours per application and one 1.25 bottle provides enough repellent for four people for four days.

General Repair, Improvisation and More
The blaze orange bandana will help you stand out to searchers, can be used to prefilter water, improvise a bandage, keep your neck or head warm, as a dust mask, a tourniquet, a trail marker and more. Duct tape can be used to repair the bivvy, clothing, shoes or other gear or used to secure a bandage. The safety pins, sewing needle and thread are used to repair torn clothing, tents or tarps. The fishing kit and thread can provide food or a diversion from monotony and sadness. Aluminum foil can be used for cooking, signaling collecting water and many other things. Pencil and paper are important for leaving notes or organizing your thoughts. The Fresnel lens allows you to more easily read the instructions in the Pocket Survival Kit, will help you thread a needle or find a splinter and can used as a back-up fire starter on sunny days.
